Radio Guide

Big Walk Radio Channels

Find Big Walk's seven radio channels, pair handheld radios with transmitters, and coordinate split teams with a practical island route and troubleshooting tips.

Radio is the answer to Big Walk's biggest practical problem: a twelve-player group cannot stay in one place. This page explains the unlock loop and gives a channel checklist; the Screen Hype location guide has the community-maintained landmark screenshots and coordinate annotations.

Keep one radio operator per split team and call the coordinate before the instruction.

How the radio network works

  1. Find a handheld radio or walkie-talkie and keep it in a hip slot or backpack.
  2. Locate a fixed transmitter or receiver on the island.
  3. Interact with the fixed station to reveal or activate a channel.
  4. Tune both handheld radios to the same channel.
  5. Read the destination coordinate before giving the instruction.

Handheld radios handle the conversation; fixed stations extend where that conversation can reach. Activating a station does not teleport a player and does not replace proximity voice when the team is standing together.

Seven-channel checklist

ChannelStatusHow to use it
1Found at a fixed island stationUse as the group's first long-range test; both radios must match
2Found at a fixed island stationReserve for the red/map team
3Found at a fixed island stationReserve for the blue/train team
4Found at a fixed island stationReserve for the green/chairlift team
5Found at a fixed island stationUseful for a second split team or a late joiner
6Found at a fixed island stationKeep clear for a puzzle runner and lookout
7Found at a fixed island stationUse as a final spare channel during cleanup

The channel number is the stable part of this list. Station order, nearby landmarks and coordinate labels are community-sourced and can be presented differently between map versions, so confirm the physical station with the linked location guide rather than blindly walking to a copied number.

A radio route for a split group

  • Early walk: keep everyone on proximity voice until the drawbridge is down.
  • After the red tower: put the map team on one channel and call the coordinate of the next console.
  • After the blue tower: use a separate channel for the train runners so station chatter does not drown out puzzle calls.
  • During cleanup: assign channels by region, not by player. A channel belongs to the task currently moving, then gets released.

Troubleshooting

  • No audio: confirm both players selected the same channel and that the radio is equipped.
  • One-way audio: have both players re-interact with the fixed station, then retune.
  • Lost teammate: say the four-digit coordinate, fire a flare and hold position.
  • Too much chatter: one radio operator per team; everyone else uses short proximity calls.

To be confirmed: the exact coordinate for every channel station. We intentionally link to the current visual route instead of publishing a brittle number that a map update could invalidate.
