Version 1.5.1: saves, audio, network and interaction fixes
Version 1.5.1 is a reliability update with a new audio setting and fixes across saves, multiplayer interactions, interface prompts and rendering.
- Added separate volume sliders for different audio categories.
- Fixed a problem where a save made before
1.4.9could reset a completed challenge and make it impossible to finish. - Fixed a spot where a player could be picked up from the other side of a turnstile, and made it harder to clip through certain walls.
- Fixed an item placed in a backpack preventing shadows from drawing correctly, confetti launchers that failed to fire and an item ending up on the wrong side of a wall after a player disconnected.
- Changed the save-deletion menu to show the name of the save being deleted. The host password prompt wording was also updated, and a failed connection attempt now clears its password prompt.
- Network warnings now distinguish between a slow connection and an unstable connection.
- Fixed Chinese, Japanese and Korean fonts sometimes reaching a character limit and failing to render new characters.
- Increased the reach of the item that amplifies a player's voice and fixed unusual lighting that could persist after a particular sequence.
The official notes do not describe a separate recovery procedure for a challenge that already reset.
Version 1.5.0: missing tree collision
Version 1.5.0 fixed one patch of trees that was missing collision. No additional feature or content change is listed in the official version history.
Version 1.4.10: network and voice stability
Version 1.4.10 focuses on sessions, connection feedback and voice reliability.
- Improved network connection and general stability.
- Fixed a problem that could leave the server unresponsive after a player disconnected.
- Added more specific messages for some network failures.
- Added warnings to the host and join menus when the game detects a condition that may block a connection.
- Improved voice stability so player voices are less likely to cut out or stop working.
- Adjusted the sound of one item-finding tool.
- Fixed the beginning of the flare-launcher sound sometimes being cut off.
Players who still cannot reconnect should note the exact error shown by the new connection messages, then use the Big Walk troubleshooting guide.

Version 1.4.9 added session safeguards and fixed several progress problems.
- Session passwords are now required when starting a game.

- Improved protection against potential save-data loss.
- Made it harder to clip through certain walls and become stuck.
- Fixed a missing collider in one challenge.
- Fixed completed challenges sometimes requiring completion again after reloading.
- Fixed two players being able to pass through one turnstile together.
- Fixed the game stopping when a player disconnected while being carried.
Because passwords are required, hosts should keep both the password and Join Code out of livestreams and public screenshots.
Version 1.4.8: quiet voices and controller startup
Version 1.4.8 was released on Steam on 7 August 2026 before rolling out to other platforms.
- Fixed the game failing to load when a connected gamepad had an unusual name.
- Added output normalization for player voices, making microphones that were previously too quiet easier to hear.
The voice fix does not increase the distance at which proximity chat can be heard. Voices are still designed to fade with distance, through walls and across other obstacles.
Version 1.4.7: host and friends-list reliability
- Improved on-screen warnings for connection problems and moderation actions.
- Improved host stability.
- Improved reliability of the friends' game browser.
- Fixed on-screen keyboards accepting only very short passwords.
Version compatibility for crossplay
Big Walk versions contain three numbers, such as 1.5.1. According to the official FAQ, only the first two numbers must match for players to join one another. Versions with the same first two numbers can therefore be compatible even when the final patch number differs.
Different storefronts may receive the final number at different times. Before troubleshooting a mixed-platform group, check the version shown on every device and install any pending update.
