The numbers 4166, 1899 in Big Walk are map coordinates, not a lock combination. They point to a camouflaged button on a rock face. One player must press that button while another waits beside the locked box to collect the prize.
This puzzle needs at least two players and the paper map from the map room. If your group has not unlocked the map yet, follow the map-room guide first.
Big Walk 4166, 1899 quick solution
- Unlock the map room through the red tower progression chain.
- Take or inspect the small paper map with its coordinate grid.
- Leave one player beside the box marked 4166, 1899.
- Send another player to the matching coordinate south of the island.
- Find the button blended into the rock face near the railway curve and chairlift tunnel.
- Press the button while the first player stays ready at the box.
- Grab the prize as soon as the box opens.
The common mistake: entering 4166 or 1899 as a code will not work. The plank is giving you a location, and the box opens remotely.
Where is the 4166, 1899 box?
The locked box sits beyond the starting stretch of the island, near the train-station cannon puzzle past the red tower. A nearby plank displays the two numbers but offers no keypad or normal interaction. That is the clue that the solution happens somewhere else.
Leave a player at the box before the navigator travels to the coordinates. One person must hold the remote button while the other collects the prize, so treating it as a simultaneous co-op task avoids an unnecessary return trip.
Where is the hidden button?
Use the coordinate grid on the small paper map, not the large island diorama. The target is in the southern part of the island on a rock face positioned between two useful landmarks:
- a visible curve in the railway line;
- the tunnel entered by the chairlift route.
The switch is deliberately close in color and shape to the rock. Walkthrough footage (MonkeyKingHero) uses the blue structure right next to the railroad as the base landmark, then the destroyed or broken-down train beside the track, and finally the rock base behind it — the button blends into that rock face. Sweep the wall slowly instead of searching for a brightly colored puzzle button. The walk is long and much of it can run through pitch-dark night, so bring a light, and if your group has already unlocked the train, riding it makes the southern trip far faster. A compass or GPS item helps the navigator hold the line while the player at the box confirms whether it opened.
Why the puzzle cannot be completed solo
The button and box are separated by enough distance that one player cannot press the switch and collect the prize alone. Big Walk is designed for cooperative play, and this puzzle makes that requirement explicit: one player operates the remote mechanism while another handles the reward.
For a two-player group, give the paper map or navigation tool to the runner and leave the other person at the box. Larger groups can keep a radio operator at each end so the button press and collection happen together.
If the box does not open
- Confirm you are using the paper map's coordinates rather than estimating from the diorama.
- Check the exact rock face around the railway curve and chairlift tunnel.
- Keep a player physically beside the box before pressing the hidden button.
- Make sure everyone is in the same host session and seeing the same world state.
- If the mechanism appears stuck after a disconnect, regroup at the host and reload the session.
The prize counts toward the island's wider puzzle progression. Use the all-puzzles guide to track what your group has already completed, and the item guide for the map, compass and GPS tools that make coordinate searches easier.
