Big Walk Backpack Location

Find a Big Walk backpack in the blue spiral buildings, learn the early route past the drawbridge, equip it with a teammate, and unlock Big Pack.

Backpacks in Big Walk are found inside the island's blue circular buildings. The easiest early one is beyond the tutorial and drawbridge, downhill from the red tower in the direction of the yellow maze. Enter the blue spiral-shaped building, take the backpack from its central stand and ask a teammate to attach it to your back.

You cannot equip the backpack on yourself. Once a friend puts it on you, it gives the group another secure carrying position and unlocks the Big Pack achievement for the wearer. Multiple blue buildings hold more backpacks for larger groups.

Fast route to an early backpack

  1. Finish the opening co-op puzzles and cross the red drawbridge.
  2. Follow the red route into the wider island and climb or approach the red tower.
  3. Look downhill from the tower toward the yellow maze area.
  4. Find the low, bright-blue circular building with repeated spiral shapes.
  5. Go inside and take the backpack hanging from the stand in the middle.
  6. Hand it to a friend and turn your back toward them so they can equip it.

The exact blue structure is easier to identify than the backpack model itself. It resembles a circular shelter or low spiral pavilion rather than a normal house, and the backpack hangs vertically inside. If your group is still inside the tutorial area, keep progressing: the video-demonstrated backpack is not available before leaving that opening zone.

How to wear the backpack

Pick up the backpack as a loose object, carry it to another player and place it against their back with the normal interaction control. Big Walk treats equipping wearable items as a co-op action, so the intended wearer cannot reach around and attach it alone. If it will not connect, have the wearer stand still while the helper aims at the center of their back.

The Big Pack achievement is for wearing a backpack, not merely picking one up. On PS5 the same objective appears as a trophy, while Steam lists it among the game's 12 achievements. If one player gets the unlock and another does not, swap roles and attach the pack to the second player.

This teammate-only rule also applies to other wearable storage items. The nearby Big Help objective asks you to wear something on your hip, so keep any hip bag or belt item the group discovers. The complete trophy guide separates both gear objectives from the main progression trophies.

What does the backpack do?

A backpack lets its wearer carry an additional object while keeping their hands available for another tool. That is especially useful when moving puzzle prizes, a paper map, a light or a radio between distant landmarks. It does not turn Big Walk into a menu-based inventory game; the bag remains a physical object that teammates can see and interact with. A normal backpack holds one item at a time — one extra carried slot on top of whatever is in your hands. It accepts any item regardless of size, which is what separates it from the smaller waist bag: the belt only fits compact tools like radios and walkie-talkies, while the backpack takes a full-size prize, map or prop. The item guide compares both upgrades against the carrier bag and hip pouch.

Items held in the backpack are also less likely to be dropped during an ordinary tumble than whatever the player is holding in their hands. Use the bag for the item the route cannot afford to lose, and keep the replaceable tool in hand. The item guide has suggested loadouts for navigators, runners and radio operators.

For a two-player group, one backpack is enough to change the pace of long puzzle routes. One person can carry the prize securely while still holding a map or compass, and the other can keep a radio or light ready. In a large group, spreading backpacks across teams is more useful than stacking every bag on one route.

How to find more backpacks

The island has multiple blue circular buildings, and the demonstrated locations are fixed rather than random drops. Once your group unlocks the map room, use the map to plan a sweep of the blue structures instead of walking blindly between towers. Bring friends with empty backs so each newly found pack can be equipped immediately.

Do not promise every person a bag from one building. The early structure holds one backpack, so a larger party needs to visit additional blue structures. If a stand appears empty, check whether another player already moved the bag before treating it as a bug.

A sensible collection route is to grab the early red-tower backpack, unlock the map room, and then mark other blue buildings while travelling toward tower puzzles. This turns the search into part of normal progression instead of a separate island-wide cleanup. Keep one group member responsible for counting bags so a dropped backpack does not look like an undiscovered location.

Backpack troubleshooting

The bag will not attach: the wearer cannot equip it alone. Give the object to a teammate, stand still and let that player place it against your back. Move away from walls or other loose objects if the interaction keeps selecting the wrong target.

The achievement did not unlock: make sure the bag is visibly attached, not merely held against the character. Swap the pack between players and give the platform a moment to register the wearable state. If it still fails, note the platform and game version before reloading the host session.

The backpack disappeared: retrace the last section where the group moved prizes or fell. Check the blue building's central stand and ask whether another team carried it away. Big Walk's objects are physical, so a misplaced bag is not proof that the save lost the achievement.

You cannot find the blue building: confirm that the group has crossed the opening drawbridge and left the tutorial area. Use the red tower as the first landmark, then look downhill toward the yellow maze instead of searching the beach. Unlocking the map makes later backpack buildings much easier to track.

Best first loadout

Put a puzzle prize or other irreplaceable route object in the backpack and hold the map, compass or light in your hands. Give another player a walkie-talkie so the carrier can be guided after the group splits. This arrangement preserves the important cargo without sacrificing navigation.

Avoid filling every available carrying position before an unknown puzzle. Big Walk often asks players to move a new prop, so one open hand or bag position saves a return trip. The best backpack is not the fullest one; it is the one that lets the team finish the route without abandoning a key tool.
